So yesterday and today have been filled with little random happy moments and I have to share some of them.
Yesterday:
1) Street vendors were out selling jewelry they had made. The one we stopped at was a "tough guy" with his dreadlocks and hat and glasses, he would look intimidating to anyone. Of all the people who sell their stuff and will tell you anything to sell it, he was the most honest. We asked him if the stones were from Greece and he said, "Oh no! None of them, they are all imported from other places, we don't have these here."Where most people would just walk to the next stand and buy something that the vendor lied to them about, we stuck around. We each bought a few things and he said something at the end along the lines of "You guys really saved me today." Happiness.
2) Taco bell. I don't need to say more.
3) I went to see "Dark Shadows" and despite the fact that I only really went to be with my friends, it was SO funny and so ridiculous. So worth it and so fun.
Today:
1) We got up early to go see a friend we made a few weeks ago. He sits on the main street on Sundays and tries to sell his paintings. He really is an amazing artist, and we went today to get some stuff from him. He gave us discounts and is making a personalized painting for my friend for free. Really kind and genuine man.
2) We went to Mcdonalds for lunch (don't say it...) and sat down to enjoy our food. While sitting there, a little boy sat down with his accordion (the homeless play them for money on the streets) and he had a HUGE smile on his face as he opened his bag with fries in it. He looked at us and smiled as he poured out his fries, he even offered us some of the mayo that the cashier gave him. The sweetest little boy, and as we left he took our left over food with another huge smile. I have never seen a little boy so happy in my whole life, made me want to give him everything I have.
3) I found a place that has iced coffee that is nearly identical to Wawa iced coffee. You don't know how rare this is to come across, since Greeks do coffee much different. Happiness.
Besides the few silly things I listed like coffee and taco bell, I have really been able to see God lighting up this town and bringing us to the most genuine and generous people. Even in stores, one guy gave me a free ring just because I am in there a lot, and another give us serious discounts because we are "good friends." We stumble upon the best people I have possibly met in my whole life. So grateful for all of it.
