Woke up bright and early and was on the metro by 8:15 to make it to the airport to get my parents after their plane landed at 9:15. It was all supposed to work out so well, it is only a half hour-ish metro ride and I would be early. Wellllllllll, it turns out that the early metro trains don't all go to the airport, they stop before and you have to wait for a special one. So my planning was flawed. I got to the spot where I was forced off the metro at 8:30 and it said 30 minutes until the next one that went all the way to the airport. Waited. Waited. Waited. Finally it arrived and I hopped on, arriving at the airport right at 9:15.
What happened when I got there, you ask? Well, I realized I didn't know the gate, flight, airline, or anything about the airport. So I had to go to the desk and say "Hmm may parents flew in from Philadelphia 5 minutes ago and I have no clue how to find them." He told me their flight landed early, so not only was I late but they were 25 minutes earlier than they were supposed to be. I eventually found them and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. Unfortunately for them, the hot weather stopped just in time for their visit and it was cold and rainy.
We got coffee and then dinner, just catching up (also Erin, my cousin, and her daughter Abby). Erin told me she thinks I have a thing with kids and it really got me thinking about what I want to do with my life, what kind of career I want to pursue. I always knew I loved kids and I've always been drawn to jobs involving them (camp and daycare) but never thought about pursuing my life in that direction. We shall see.
Anyways, it was great having my parents get here and being able to show them Greece. This is just the beginning. They are here until Friday! Let the fun begin.
