March 31: Acropolis

Today we woke up bright and early and hiked up to the Acropolis. Though it looks like it would be impossible to get to the top of the mountain, the looks were deceiving. Had Aphrodite not stopped to talk for probably a total of two hours all together, we could have made that a 2 hour trip. On the way up, we stopped at a smaller mountain top, which is famous for being where Paul addressed the Corinthians on the "new religion" and who Jesus is. That was really cool. Moving on to the top when we hit the Parthenon, let me just say that it is HUGE.  What is left of it is incredible, though mostly just remains stand there, it is really a mind-blowing thing to be at a place with such a history.  Just standing there and trying to imagine how life was like when it was still in use is crazy.
We then (a few of us) went and got a delicious lunch, followed by a tasty drink and some gelato. Overall, I would rate the food, drink and gelato combo as a 10/10. The food here is literally amazing.
After a long nap, I regrouped with 3 other girls and we officially BOOKED OUR FLIGHTS TO EGYPT for Easter break! How exciting. We are planning on doing tours of the pyramids via camelback, and a night boat tour down the Nile. This is in 2 weeks!
I closed my night off with a lovely Skype session with my family back in the U.S. and my lovely dog. It was great to see them,  I do miss being home. While Skyping, some sort of something was going on outside. Big crowds of people chanting things in Greek and walking down the street with the flag. Who knows.
Anyhow, I am having a great time here! I am feeling very free of all of the burdens and struggles I was facing at home and really getting to enjoy everything here. I've already made some friends and I can see that this is going to get really fun.
Tomorrow we go to the hot springs and do some sunbathing on the beach. Perfection. Life is really good. Seeya friends.
