April 1: Lake Vouliagmeni

Today was great. Starting off early, we walked to the bus station and hopped on towards the direction of the lake. Though we knew we were on the right bus, we did not know our stop. So thankfully, the young man sitting across from me spoke English and could give us some assistance. His name was Vikele, or something along those lines. Nice man, got us off at the right stop. Though we were at the right stop, we took a wrong turn and ended up at the sea...and THIS is where I will document meeting my future husband. We were lost and this shirtless, long beachy haired, dark skin and blue eyed man approached us. He asked if we were there for wind surfing and to our disappointment, we were not. He gave us further directions and we promised to come back for lessons (and I seriously will to be around his beauty once more).
Anyhow, we found the lake. It is this gorgeous clear blue water surrounded by mountains. All sunny and the rocks you walked on didn't get hot even in the heat of the day. There is a hot spring in the underwater caves surrounding it so the water was a decent temperature. It wasn't too hot out so we could lay out and not be dripping in sweat. It was the perfect temperature all around. One thing that weirded me out was the fish in the water. Usually I'm fine with that, but we were told that these fish (tiny little guys) will bite on your toes and eat your dead skin. Though they said it would tickle and not hurt, I ran in to the lake, not allowing those little critters to catch up to me.
We got some sun, left around 3 and got some Mcdonalds. Some may ask, why Mcdonalds when you are in Greece?! Well, let me tell you. Greek food is absolutely delicious, but every once and a while you want something familiar. You want something that you would eat at home. Mcdonalds did this for us. Let me tell you something else, a double cheeseburger has never tasted so good in my whole life. And the fries are cooked in olive oil, so they feel better in your belly. Not only that but you are forced to eat them at a decent pace since you have to use a FORK.
I came back, showered, took a long siesta, made a peanut butter & nutella sandwich, planned some tours that we will be pursuing in Egypt, and now I will watch the Lorax until I fall asleep. Life is really good right now.
