Well today was one of those days where so many funny and unfortunate things happened that I get excited to blog. To start the day off, I woke up early and had a delicious egg sandwich. Then went to a cafe for coffee, and they gave me a free water with my cappuccino just because. Then we went to the open market, where people bring their fresh fruits and vegetables and sell them at low prices. A man (pretty cute at that) stopped us and asked us to try his oranges. This is not uncommon because they all are competing for sales. It was delicious, maybe best one I've ever had. Lauren got two, and then the man decided we could all take two free oranges, just because he liked us! :) As we walked away, you could hear him say to the other man, "They were just lovely!"
We then hopped on the bus and headed to the beach. We got off at the first stop that had a beach and set out. The water was a little chilly, but nothing you couldn't get used to. It was crystal clear, no exaggeration it was like bottled water clear. It was a hot day and we all got some color. By the end we decided we were going to take the bus to the pier and go to Fridays for some good food. We were waiting at the bus stop for maybe a half hour before we began questioning whether our bus was actually coming. As we started getting frustrated, a truck drove by, right into a huge puddle, and it splashed up ALL over us. That's right, that scene you see in movies where the actor says something like "Well could anything else possibly go wrong?!" and then that happens. Also, keep in mind it hasn't rained here in a while so it is a mysterious water puddle. So I take a step back, turn around to take something out of my bag and ANOTHER car does the same thing, soaking my back. It was funny, disgusting, and frustrating all at the same time.
So now we are covered in this mysterious water from the street, and we finally see our bus in the distance. We try to wave him down and he just keeps driving by. PISSED. We decided to wait for the next one, and 20 minutes later when the next one came by, the driver shook his head and kept going. We finally decided to just walk to the pier, which was not a terrible walk. We all ordered delicious food and it was perfect. I ordered some fancy drink (just cause I can :)) and the waiter asks, "Regular or Ultimate size?" but with his accent I could just make out the words regular and size. I thought he was asking what size and due to my indecisiveness, I said "surprise me." Bad choice, this thing was gigantic. Thank goodness I was eating dinner with it because if I wasn't, I would be a little worried about my behavior.
We then all sat down and watched the sun go down (almost) at the pier. It was SO pretty there and so alive, I definitely want to go back. Also there were 2 dogs walking around performing inappropriate deeds on each other in public. It was reallllyyy funny, everyone around was just starring, jaws dropped. Foreplay and everything, which I was unaware that dogs even did that. Anyhow, you learn something new every day.
Now onto a more serious note. When sitting by the water and watching the sun go down, it was one of those "wow this would be a perfect date" type of realizations. I started feeling a little lonely and let it get to me more than I should have. After feeling bad for myself for a little while, I snapped out of it. My devotions for last night spoke to me today. Last night my devotions focused on the fact that God should be our satisfaction, we should be content with life when we have a good relationship with the Lord and let Him take care of the rest, and be happy knowing that He is control. We are supposed to invest trust in that relationship, and I felt myself slipping out of that. Once I realized this, I was able to snap out of it and realize how blessed I am and trust that God will bring someone in my life when it is time, and I can wait for that. Devotions have really done me well, and I think it was a great decision to start getting into them.
Well, tomorrow is my, "don't set an alarm and sleep as long as I can day," so I'm going to get started on that. Goodnight my friends, I hope that you can find the same peace that I have been lately.
