April 2: First day of class

What an interesting day. I spent all morning alone since all of my roommates had an early class. Met up with Brittany at 12:30 and got some souvlaki and coffee before class. We had Modern World History in a class full of 45 students. We were the only Americans but there were many other multi-cultural students in the class as well. I am not a history person but the professor taught it in a way that kept my attention for most of the 3 hour long class.
What I found most interesting is when we began to talk about the global economy and how the fall of one country will eventually lead to the fall of another. One student claimed that the fall in the economy of Greece was because of the U.S. and the power we have, and them not getting the oil we need. I wanted to turn around and be like, "listen pal.." but I don't know my facts well enough to actually shut him down. I think it will be an interesting opportunity to see the view of America from other parts of the world. There is some obvious tension and bitterness, but I would like to understand why. Though it may be a challenge to sit there and take direct hits from my classmates, it will be a learning experience.
Also, we bought some random delicious looking desserts in the OK Mart tonight, not being able to read the labels because they were in Greek. They seriously looked like heaven, tasted like bland bread. Disappointing. First Greek food to not make my stomach fly away to happy land. Anyways, not a super exciting day. Tomorrow I have my first Greek class so I will keep you posted. If nothing happens exciting, I will spare you all another boring blog post and skip tomorrow. Either way, I will chat with you all later.
