We set our alarms for 9 something and got ready for the beach. We took a quick walk down the road, and found ourselves at a beautiful black sand beach, with mountains to the left and clear seas all around. Lounge chairs under palm umbrellas were too inviting to pass up, so we made our way over and got comfortable. It was not long before a man came up to take our order, and I, amongst others, enjoyed a nice cold mojito. The water was a little chilly but bearable.
It was hot, and the sand could probably give you 3rd degree burns if you stood in one place for longer than 5 seconds. Eventually we found ourselves sitting in the water, throwing rocks at each other and playing in the water like children. Then after getting back to our chairs, passed out. When I say "passed out," I don't mean like in sunbathing positions, I mean you would think we hadn't slept in days by the way we were laying there, in the most unattractive positions. None of us cared.
We got lunch brought right to us at the beach, me and Brittany split some bread and a Greek salad, and it was all amazing. Eventually we got ourselves up from the chairs and headed back to the hostel to shower up. Just before we made it off the beach, the waitress from the place we were sitting at stopped us and called us over. "Wait! You can't go yet! We have shots for you!" Yes, they gave us free shots, and who can resist something free? The people at this place were so friendly and kind.
Contrary to my expectations of a hostel, the shower was probably the best one I've had since I've been in Greece. I haven't felt water pressure like that since my days in America, nor have I had to not care about running out of hot water in a long time. It was wonderful. After all showering, we napped for what felt like forever, as if we didn't get enough sleep on the beach. We then headed back to the same beach restaurant for dinner where we had the same wonderful waiters. After a delicious dinner, she brought us 2 more rounds of shots. They were delicious, which surprised me because I have never been one for shots. We also were feeling extra glutenous and ordered ice cream deserts, which were delivered to us with sparklers in them.
We spent the rest of the evening just hanging out at the hostel. This is when I first realized how relaxed I felt. I had not had a single worry from the time I got on the ferry until now. Life was so perfect, so relaxed, and I felt so much peace inside me.
